High potential and gifted education (HPGE) is how our school supports students with advanced learning needs.

Across our school
  • HPGE talent identification, assessment and development
  • All students, including those who are high potential and gifted, are supported to assume leadership roles through participation in the student representative council, mentoring programs and leading major events such as ANZAC, Remembrance Day, and NAIDOC assemblies
  • Artistic talent is recognised and developed through MADD Night, Talent quest , chess club, art club and movie club, with support from a student stage crew managing sound, lighting, and production.
  • The Premier’s Debating Challenge and creative writing competitions enhance skills in expression and argumentation.
  • Merrylands High School remains committed to promoting sporting participation across a wide range of competitions, including gala days, combined high schools knockout events, and selections for zone, regional, and state carnivals.
